Edutainment By All Means Necessary

Beginning in August 2023 and taking place at Northampton Community College and throughout the Lehigh Valley and eastern PA region, “50 Years Down the Line” has been a yearlong celebration and examination of Hip Hop culture’s “four elements”: how they came to be, how they evolved and how they continue to be practiced and thrive in American culture.

Reflective of Hip Hop’s dynamic mix of influences and styles, “50 Years” programming combines classroom pedagogy and academic research with presentation and performances by Hip Hop artists, activists and educators.

While the NEH endowed programming overseen by NCC has concluded in spring 2024, the “50 Years Down the Line” project led by Professor Andrew McIntosh aka DJ ARM 18 will continue to pursue collaboration and promote those in the Hip Hop community invested in programming “edutaining” explorations of Hip Hop’s history and practices.
